The hartal call was given through WhatsApp and other social media sites landing people in confusion. Most shops have also downed their shutters.

A government bus was stoned at Uppala on Sunday night while there were incidents of obstructing vehicular movement at Manjeshwar, Nayammarmoole, Cherkala and other places.  Stones, tyres and wooden logs were placed on roads to block vehicles. Police have arrested 25 persons for blocking vehicular traffic.

Though WhatsApp messages on Kerala Bundh on Monday  were widely circulated without the name of any organisation  since Sunday, the police had  not taken the same seriously.

However, realising that the message has had its impact, police have now taken precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incident.
