Kasargod man arrested at airport with Rs 6.7 lakh worth foreign currency

Mangalore, june 18, 2014:  Currency of various foreign nations worth Rs 6.70 lakhs was seized  from a person hailing from Kasargod  by the Customs officials at the Mangalore International Airport on June 17, Tuesday.

The currency was found hidden  in the clothing  in the hand bag carried by the passenger named Jaleel Kunhu  Kutty of Hidayat Nagar in Kasargod. He arrived by a Jet Airways Flight from Sharjah.

The operations were led  by HB Venkatesh, Customs Superintendent along with  GV Prabhu,   R.S.Venkatram , R.G.Gaonkar, S.K.Nelli, Superintendents, Bikram Chakraborthy, P.C.Padhi, Prasanna Kumari and Devendra Pratap Singh, Inspector  and Havaldars Gopal and Sowmya Naik.
The operations were conducted under the supervision of Hemen Gogoi, Deputy Commissioner of Customs, Mangalore International Airport.
