Kasargod : Youth trapped for stealing dental student’s smart phone, sending obscene messages

Kasargod, Apr 28, 2015:  Police have on April 27, Monday arrested a student  on the charges of stealing the smart phone of a lady student pursuing dental course and then  sending obscene  Whatsapp messages to her friends through the smart phone. The arrested student is BH Ilyas (18), a Plus Two  student hailing from Tekkil Bendichal in Kasargod.

It has been gathered that the dental student had lost her cell phone while participating in a wedding on April 23. Ever since then vulgar messages were received by her  friends from her number. However, no one was responding when calls were made to that number.

Following this, the student had lodged a complaint with Vidyanagar police station in Kasargod. The police who took up investigation into the case gathered information about Ilyas and trapped him at Chattanchal. Police said he had revealed during interrogation that he tried to sell the stolen cell phone. The police who have seized the smart phone have returned it to its original owner.
