Kasargod: Six nabbed in autorickshaw driver attack case

Kasargod, Nov 21, 2015 :  As many as six persons have been arrested by the Kasargod police on November 20, Friday on the charges of making an attempt on the life of an autorickshaw driver named Sandeep.

Those arrested are Mohammad Arafat (25), a resident of Chowki Kambar,  Ismail alias Echu(23) of Chowki Badar Nagar,  Moidin Kunhi (39) of Uliyathadka, Junaid (19) of Meepuguri and Rumaiz (23) of Keyoor and another juvenile accused.


Sources revealed that one Afraz said to be the mastermind behind the case was in Dubai. Police have seized a knife used for the crime apart from two bikes and two cars.

Interrogations of the accused revealed that they had discarded another knife in the Chandragiri lake. Even the clothes worn by the assailants while committing the crime, have been recovered.

Police sources revealed that while the actual intention  of the assailants was to settle scores over a previous enmity, they had also intended to spark riots.

Interrogations of the accused even revealed that  the murder plot was hatched in Gulf by Afraz said to be an accused in the case of murder of Jayachandran of Kithikol  which took place 19 years ago.

Moreover an altercation that ensured  between one of the Accused Arafat and Sandeep a few days ago also  instigated the assailants to eliminate Sandeep. Sources said  the mastermind Afraz had even sent Rs 25000 as an advance to the assailants.

It has been gathered that the juvenile arrested in the case was 17 years old and was wanted in six bike theft cases.
