Kasargod : Group barges into police station, attack cops

Kasargod, Nov 10, 2015 : Three police personnel including a Sub-Inspector  were injured when a group of  assailants including a murder accused barged into the local police station and  vandalised it  after demanding the release of a youth who was in police custody. Two persons  have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The Kasargod police had earlier arrested Ajay Kumar Shetty, a resident of Manippady  for disrupting peace in Meepugiri area, under the influence of alcohol.

It was said that some local residents who were  displeased with the police action of detaining  Ajay, had barged into the station demanding his release.

The accused have been identified as Vijesh, Ganesh and Prashanth.

The trio created a ruckus inside the station and damaged the furniture. The injured cops are SI Ajith Kumar, Suresh and Babu,both constables.

It is said the arrested Prashanth was also wanted in connection with the murder of Abid, a resident of Thalangere. Sources said there were very few police personnel in the station when the attack took place.

A case has been registered and investigations are in progress.
