Uppala, Dec 05, 2014 : An LPG tanker rolled into a gorge near the Bandyodu Shiriya bridge on the National Highway 66 in Manjeshwar Taluk during the wee hours of December 5, Friday. The mishap occurred at around 2 am when the tanker was heading towards Kochi from Mangaluru.
The impact of the fall was such that gas began to leak from the tanker.Electricity supply in the area was snapped immediately and fire service personnel from Kasargod rushed to the spot to avert any eventuality. With a petrol bunk too located nearby, the authorities took all possible measures to ensure that there was no casualty. Latest reports state that efforts are on to stop the leakage.
Vehicular traffic on the route has been diverted. Kumble Circle Inspector and Manjeshwar police are at the spot.
