Kasargod: Cop fatally knocked down by police jeep at Badiadka

Kasargod, April 21, 2015: A policeman of Badiadka police station who had sustained critical injuries after he was run over by a police jeep, has breathed his last at a hospital in Mangaluru. The mishap took place on April 20, Monday evening.

The deceased police personnel has been identified as Janardhana Naik of Kuntalumoole. The mishap occurred at around 5.45 pm when Naik was riding a scooter that was seized at Pilamkatte after the driver did not possess documents.

Naik’s scooter was followed by a  police jeep which eventually proved fatal for him. While the scooter reached close by the Artipalla bus stand, Naik applied sudden brake  on seeing some  people crossing the road after getting down from a bus. He soon fell on to the road and the police jeep that was following him ran over him.

 Naik who had sustained critical head injuries was rushed to a local private hospital and was later shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru where he breathed his last on April 21, Tuesday evening.
