Kasargod : After failed attempt to kill mentally ill daughter, couple consume poison

Kasargod, Jan 31, 2017 :In a heart wrenching incident reported from Periyadka near Kargil here, a couple   who attempted to kill their mentally ill  daughter by  poisoning  her, later  consumed poison in a bid to end their lives. While the  couple’s daughter is safe, her father has died and mother in critical condition.

The incident took place on January 29, Sunday night. The deceased is Babu Patali (65). His wife Leelavathi (21) is in a critical condition while the ill daughter Nirmala  who managed to escape from the clutches of her parents while they tried to poison her, is safe.

It is learnt, Babu Patali was deeply perturbed over his daughter’s illness and had decided to get rid of her. However when his attempt failed, he and his wife tried to end their lives.

The daughter had soon rushed to the house of neighbours to inform them about the incident. The neighbours admitted the couple to the hospital. However Babu Patali’s life could not be saved.

Badiadka police are investigating the case.
