Kasargod: 1 dead, 2 rescued as three plunges into river fearing cops

Kasargod Aug 12, 2016 : The police were on their regular rounds at Padankkad river banks inKasargod. The three men engaged ferrying boat to the banks involved in sand mining jumped into river fearing the cops. The incident took place on August 11, Thursday   in which 1 died and other two were rescued.


sand 12 aug 16The deceased   person is identified as Ravi (48) ,Resident of Nileshwar. The rescued persons are  Narayan and Preman.



It is said that three persons were engaged in illegal sand mining on noticing police dived into the river with the fear of getting caught. The locals noticed them and rescued Narayan and Preman but Ravi had drowned. Ravi’s body was recovered later sent to autopsy.


 But the locals were not aware that they had jumped into the river to escape from police.


The Kasargod police are investigating the case.
