Kasaragod woman gives details on IS recruitment

Kasaragod, Aug 11, 2016: Yasmin Mohammed, who was arrested recently by the Kasaragod police for her suspected links with Islamic State, is learnt to have revealed some interesting facts during her police custody.


Yasmin MuhammedYasmin, who was arrested by the police at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi on July 31, was initially remanded to 14-day judicial custody. She was arrested ahead of her flight to Kabul along with her son.

Meanwhile, the investigators had moved an application seeking her custody. Considering the plea, the court had granted three-day police custody.

During the interrogation, Yasmin, who is the second wife of Abdul Rasheed, revealed that she along with her husband had visited Padanna last year. The couple had stayed at the house of Dr Aizaz, who later joined IS along with Rasheed.

Rasheed was instrumental in recruiting 21 youths from Kasaragod and Palghat for the terror group. Yasmin has also told the investigators about the online processes followed by Rasheed. Interestingly, Rasheed had made all arrangements to admit his son to a school in Kabul, besides arranging for a job for his wife, according to a message sent to Yasmin.
