Kasaragod: Brother mixed poison in ice cream to murder sister

Kasaragod, August 13, 2020: Police said that the death of Ann Mary (16) of Balal in Vellarikundu was a murder. Officials said that her Ann Mary’s brother Albin mixed poison in ice cream that was made at home.

Albin has been taken into custody. He told police that he had mixed poison in ice cream to murder his sister and their parents. Benny, father of the children, is undergoing treatment.

Ann Mary had died at a hospital in Cherupuzha around 5 pm on August 5. One week before her death, Ann Mary and her brother Albin had prepared and consumed ice cream at their house in Vellarikundu. The following day, Ann Mary developed stomach ache and nausea. Initially, she was taken to a hospital in Vellarikundu.

Suspecting that Ann Mary was suffering from jaundice, the family went to a relative’s house in Cherupuzha and sought treatment there. Ann Mary’s brother Albin, their father Benny and mother Bessy were also hospitalised. Benny remains critical.

Growing suspicious over Ann Mary’s death, a post mortem was held. It revealed that she was poisoned. Following this, the Cherupuzha police registered a case and handed it over to Vellarikundu police for detailed investigation.
