Karwar : Fishermen protesting against Sagar Mala Project smear cow dung on portraits of MP, MLA

Karwar, Jan 14 2020: Fishermen of Karwar who are strongly opposing the moves to expand the Karwar Port under the Sagar  Mala scheme of the Union Government, during their protest on Tuesday  have vented out their anger by smearing the  portraits of  local MP Ananth Kumar Hegde and MLA Roopali Naika with cow dung and  garlanding them with slippers.

 

The fish market in Karwar was also closed on account of the protest. The breakwater  project under Sagar  Mala scheme had commended despite opposition from locals forcing the fishermen to protest. Fishermen have been protesting in the town since Monday.
