Karopady bypoll : Slain GP Vice President Jaleel’s brother Anwar wins

Bantwal, July 5,2017:   Anwar, the brother of the  slain Karopady GP  Vice President Abdul Jaleel Karopady emerged victorious in the bypolls held  for the seat that fell vacant following Jaleel’s murder.

Anwar who was a Congress backed candidate has secured 449 votes. The elections were held on Sunday  at the Mittanadka School amid tight security and the results announced on July 5, Wednesday. Anwar’s opponent  Harish Kodla, a BJP backed candidate got 320 votes while 21 votes were declared invalid.

A total of 769 people had  voted  in the election out of the total  917 voters.
