Karnataka schools not to reopen on July 1: Suresh Kumar

Bengaluru, June 09, 2020:   As students wait anxiously over some news regarding the reopening of schools amid the Covid-19 lockdown, the Karnataka government has announced that schools will remain closed for a while. The Primary and Secondary Education Minister of Karnataka, S Suresh Kumar recently confirmed that the schools in the state will not be reopening on July 1, 2020. He also said that the dates of reopening the schools across the state will be released soon.

Parents can give their opinions on the issue of reopening schools in Karnataka, as per the education department of the state. The deadline for parents to submit their opinions regarding the reopening of schools has been extended till June 20.

After parents have submitted their opinions to the education department, meetings will be held after June 20 to take a decision regarding the reopening of schools based on all the opinions.

Schools reopening in August

In recent news, the Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said that there is a possibility that schools will reopen in the second week of August.

Ministry of Home Affairs had also stated that the decision to reopen schools will be taken in July when the coronavirus crisis is a bit more controlled. The final decision of reopening schools will depend on the state government’s approval and the opinions of stakeholders.
