Karnataka’s first Amar Jawan Jyothi memorial inaugurated in Puttur

Puttur, Aug 16,2017 : India’s third and Karnataka’s first "Amar Jawan Jyothi" memorial was dedicated  to the nation at Puttur on Independence Day.

The memorial has been constructed at a cost of Rs lakhs by  Subrahmanya Nattoja Correspondent of the Natta Foundation Trust managed Ambika Educational institution in front of the Mini Vidhana Saudha. Brigadier N K Hegde inaugurated the Amar Jawan Jyothi.

 Umesh Harihara, representative of Shringeri Sri Jagadguru Shankeracharya  and his team  performed Rashtra Shikhara Kalasha Pratishte. Several students, ex-servicemen and others were present.

The funds raised by Ambika educational institution students were handed over to  the families of martyrs Ekanath Shetty and Kushalappa.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Shakuntala Shetty, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik and others visited the  memorial.

This memorial will be  Karnataka’s only memorial where  the Amar Jawan Jyothi will be burning continuously. The first such memorial in honour of Indian soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1971 India Pakistan war was  constructed  near India  Gate in New Delhi in 1972. Another memorial is in Mumbai.
