Karnataka crisis: Assembly Session from today, Congress issues whip

Bengaluru, July 12: Ahead of the the Monsoon session on Friday, 12 July, Congress Legislative Party leader Siddaramaiah issued a whip to all MLAs to attend the session and pass the Finance Bill, failing which they will be disqualified under anti-defection law.

Karnataka Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar has given appointment for 4 pm on 12 July, to three of the five MLAs whose resignations were in the prescribed format, reported ANI.

Earlier on 11 July, Kumar addressed the media and said it can take anywhere between a week or a month for the political crisis in Karnataka to end, adding that he is "in a fix" regarding accepting the rebel MLAs resignations.

The BJP’s numbers in the 224-member Assembly have gone up to 107, after two Independents extended their support to BJP.Bangalore Police has enforced Section 144 extending up to 2 kilometers around Vidhan Soudha from 11 to 14 July.

14 Rebel Karnataka MLAs Return to Mumbai Hotel

Fourteen rebel MLAs from Karnataka returned to a luxury hotel in Mumbai on Thursday evening after submitting their resignations to the Assembly Speaker in Bengaluru, PTI reported.

According to the report, the MLAs have returned to the Renaissance hotel in suburban Powai and they would be staying there for another two days.
