The dawn-to-dusk protest called by various Kannada organisations to push for implementing the Kalasa Banduri and Mekdatu projects evoked no response in coastal districts. While shops, restaurants and business establishments functioned as usual, classes in most of schools and colleges went on without any obstructions. Few primary schools postponed exams scheduled to be held on Saturday.

Vehicles were seen plying on all the city roads and in interior parts of the district. Buses, including KSRTC, were seen plying on various routes. Except on long distant routes, KSRTC buses offered services in all routes. As usual, all roads remained busy with vehicles including auto rickshaws, four-wheelers, two-wheelers and other vehicles.

In fact, no organisations had extended support to the protest in Dakshina Kannada district. Pro Kannada organisations, associations of bus owners, auto rickshaw, taxi and labour unions in Dakshina Kannada district remained neutral without extending support to the bandh.
