Mangaluru, Jan 13, 2017: Addressing a public meeting organised at Nehru Grounds at the inauguration of a week-long exhibition on Islam organised by Karnataka Salafi Association Salahi.

Islamic scholar Mohammed Hafeez Salahi said Islam religion never propagates violence and it stands on the citadel of non-violence.  He said, "Islam spreads the essence of living in peace and surrendering to good thoughts, besides developing aversion towards violence. Similar are the preachings in Qur’an."

Association leader S M Ahmed said Islam is always against bloodshed and has maintained distance from Islamic State (IS) terror group. The community does not endorse them. The terror group has been founded with the nefarious intention of annihilating Islam, he said.

Ahmed said, "The community has been engaged in spreading the message towards building a peaceful society, by continuously opposing violence, hatred, atrocities against women, booze and narcotics."  The exhibition has been organised to spread the message of the community and also the religious scripure to people irrespective of religions, he noted.

Mayor K Harinath said, "It is essential to take the country towards development by maintaining communal harmony and spreading the message of brotherhood in the society. Every religion is involved in spreading message of peace."

The exhibition, spread on 30,000 square feet, attracted people in large numbers on day one with printed messages of Qur’an and Islam on humanity displayed in separate sections.
