Karnataka Bank launches Public Campaign against the use of Tobacco

Mangaluru, May 31, 2016: Mangaluru headquartered private sector Bank, Karnataka Bank has today launched a Public Campaign against the use of Tobacco in association with Red FM Radio as part of its CSR initiatives. The objective of the campaign is to create awareness among the public about the ill effects of the use of Tobacco and allied products and to realize the dream of having a tobacco free society. Red FM radio will spread the message not only through its channel but also through a special vehicle that will move in and around Mangaluru to reach out to maximum people with messages aimed at motivating the public to refrain from the use of tobacco.The campaign will run for a week simultaneously in Mangaluru, Kalaburgi and Mysuru.

While flagging off the campaign at the Bank’s Head Office,Shri. P JayaramaBhat, MD &CEOof theBank said “Consumption of Tobacco and related products lead to physical, social and economic problems. A person consuming tobacco exposes himself to the risk of untimely death, besides significantly affecting the lives of hisdependents. He not only spoils his health but also pollutes the environment. Every year lakhs of people die on account of Tobacco usage. Our Bank has always remained committed to the welfare of the society and in this direction the Bank has joined hands with Red FM Radio in launching this campaign. I request the public to participate in the campaign and make it a grand success.”
