Karkala, April 8,2016 : A cricketer of the Karkala XI team has been arrested by the police in connection with a case of cheating a person of nearly Rs 60 lakhs over a property agreement.
The accused is Bavuddin alias Firoz (44). He hails from Anchikatte in Karkala.
As per the complainant K S Abdul Sattar pf Mumbai who happens to be a relative of Bavuddin, the latter had fixed Rs 60 lakh as the price of a property at Kabettu near Manjunatha College and had taken him to the Registrar’s Office and got him sign a document thus making him believe that the registration was complete.
It is learnt, Bavuddin had earlier decided to buy a 48 cents land at Kabettu from one Santosh Rao but had shown the same land to Abdul and had struck the deal.
However, Abdul who did not get the property transferred to his name even after three months grew suspicious and lodged a complaint against Bavuddin.
The accused Bavuddin is a popular local cricketer who has played even in UAE when he worked there. It is learnt, he was staying in Karkala since three years.
Police who have decided to further interrogate the accused, have taken him to Mumbai.
