Karkala: Thieves threaten couple, rob cash valuables from house

Karkala, Feb 4, 2018: Thieves who broke into a house at Banglegudde Junction in Karkala Kasaba village have decamped with cash and valuables worth lakhs of rupees after attacking the  couple  staying in the house.

The theft occurred in the house of Sanjeeva Naika, a retired Bank employee. His wife Yashoda is a BSNL employee.  Three thieves who entered the house after breaking open the rear door had threatened to kill the sleeping couple by pressing  pillows on their face.

Later, they ransacked the house and made good their way with  jewellery weighing 21 sovereigns, Rs 2.5 lakh cash and costly mobile phones.

 Sanjeeva Naika has been hospitalised as he fell ill following the theft.  Naika  in his complaint has stated that the thieves were speaking in Tulu and Kannada.

The couple’s son and daughter-in-law stay abroad. Finger print experts and dog squad have been pressed into service. Further investigations are in progress.
