Karkala :Teacher arrested for sexually abusing minor student in classroom

Udupi, Dec 14, 2018:  A teacher of a private school  near Karkala has been arrested on the charges of sexually abusing a  minor student inside the classroom. The arrest follows a video clip that was widely circulated in social media which showed the teacher  making advances towards the girl.

It is learnt neither the victim nor her parents have come forward to lodge the complaint. Sources say the victim  has denied that she was the girl seen in the video.

 Meanwhile, SP Lakshman Nimbargi visited the school on  Thursday and questioned the accused who reportedly confessed the crime. He was arrested under POCSO  after the  Headmaster lodged a complaint.

It is said that there were complaints against this particular teacher named Prasad Kotian since some time and that the school management had failed to act. It is said the school belongs to a seer from Hosmar.

The accused teacher is expected to be produced before the court today. The police are likely to act against a local TV channel which had aired the  video clip in violation of POCSO Act. Sources said the accused teacher himself had filmed the incident.
