Karkala, July 21,2017 : Two persons who were transporting buffalo in a vehicle were intercepted by Hindu activists and thrashed at Jaarigekatte near Belman on July 20, Thursday. The accused are suspected to be Bajrangdal activists.
The victims are Rajesh Mendonca and Sadhu Poojary.
If Sadhu managed to escape from the clutches of the attackers, Rajesh was caught and grievously assaulted. He was found lying on the road and was later admitted to hospital by the police who rushed to the spot.
According to one version, the vehicle carrying buffaloes had hit a car at Nitte and had proceeded without stopping.
It is said those in the car had informed Bajrangdal activists at Jaarigekatte leading to the assault.
Karkala Rural Police have registered a case.
