Karkala: Ammonium nitrate hoarding case : Cops arrest accused Biju TK

Karkala, Oct 23, 2015:  Karkala police have arrested  Biju TK here  in connection with the seizing of ammonium nitrate worth about Rs 4 lakhs during a raid on a private property at Durga Tellar.

If the raid was conducted on October 21, Wednesday, under the leadership of AASP Dr Sumana D.P.,  the arrest was  made a day later on October 22, Thursday. The ammonium nitrate was hidden in 250 bags and weighed 50 kg.

The property is owned by Wilson of Kerala and was leased out to Biju a few months ago. Sources revealed that Biju used to hoard explosives illegally owing to political patronage. Incidentally, the property is in a  place which is affected by naxals.

Earlier, then AASP Labhu Ram had arrested Biju in 2007  after seizing explosives from a private property at Ajekar.

Even present SP Annamalai who was the AASP had in March 2004 raided a property at Nakre  Varnabettu and had seized ammonium  nitrate.
