Karavali Utsav from December 21 to 30 ; several events lined up

Mangaluru, Dec 11, 2018:  Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil has informed that the annual  Karavali Utsav will be held for ten days from December 21 to 30  this year.  Various events as part of the festival will be held at the Karavali Utsav exhibition ground, Panambur Beach and Kadri Park.

Speaking to reporters here on December 12, Tuesday, the Deputy Commissioner stated that noted music  director Gurukiran will inaugurate the Utsav in the presence of DK District in-charge Minister UT Khader, Udupi in-charge Minister Jayamala, State Tourism Minister Mahesh, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Mayor Bhasker Moily and legislators of the district.

As every year a colourful procession will be taken out from Nehru Maidan to the Karavali Utsav Ground prior to the inaugural, the DC said adding an exhibition organised at Kadri park will be inaugurated by Minister Khader,

As  part of the Utsav, a  Youth Festival will be held at Kadri Park on December 27 and 28, the Deputy Commissioner said adding audition for the same is slated to be held at Town Hall on December 18. Beach festival will be held at  Panambur  from December 28 to 30, the DC stated.

The Karavali Utsav this year will be theme based   and will feature the heritage, history and culture of olden Mangaluru, he informed.  A sports meet will be organised on December 28 and 29. While there will be a weightlifting competition at Don Bosco Hall on December 29, a Lagori tournament will be held at Karavali Utsav ground on December 28.

A musical event by music director Manikanth Kadri will be organised on December 30 at Panambur beach, the DC said.
