The members of the Mangalore Classic Scooter Club have been trying to not only save and showcase heritage of Classic Scooters of all makes, but also keep them going strong in today’s world of technology-loaded and much faster vehicles.

The duo left from Kanyakumari on June 26 and touched the peak at Khardung La on July 16, after 21 days on the road.

It took months of planning and preparation in getting the scooters ready for such a long trip. A trial run was already held in April, with many Classic Scooters taking the trial to Madikeri and back. The scooters were modified to carry luggage, with extra fuel cans and spares as well.

On the way, they encountered many fascinating people, family and friends, riders from different clubs, who all came together to welcome them with open arms.

One of the highlights of this trip was the handing over of the Star of Kargil Banner, with signatures from all the Motorcycling Club riders, conveying their message of respect and honour to the brave soldiers who guard borders in tough terrain.

The commanders and chiefs of the Kargil Army Camp were greatly touched and impressed to receive this, from the duo who had travelled all the way from Kanyakumari.
