Kannada language will emerge the victor

Mangalore, Nov 1, 2014 :  Delivering the presidential address, at ‘Alva’s Vidyarthi Siri’, a one-day literary programme for students organised by Alva’s Education Foundation on Oct 31, Friday,  Gamaka artiste Shraddha N Paivalike  stated that  Kannada language will remain intact in spite of the external influences on Indian culture. A large number of young talent is involved in Kannada literary activities.


alvas She lamented over decline in values that  children are accustomed to alien cultures even from a tender age. They are addicted to electronic gadgets and are moving away from the culture of the land. Science and technology are like the wheels of a vehicle. They should only be the means to make a living and not be life itself.

Guinness record holder and National Award winning Director and Actor Kishan S S said that progress of a person stops if he thinks that he has completed learning. Learning is a life- long process and one should update knowledge to be successful, he said and added that one should be proud of Indian culture.

Alva’s Education Trust President Dr M Mohan Alva said that the folklores, which are developed by common man, are an indispensable part of Kannada culture.   Lamenting that the vanishing agriculture has resulted in the extinction of folk arts, he said that students have the responsibility to grasp the essence of the culture and portray them in a respectful manner.  He further said that Kannada needs to be updated in the education system. The Supreme Court has directed to introduce a uniform curriculum throughout the country. Hence, CBSE should start Kannada medium right from primary education, he said.

Senior Litterateur H S Venkatesha Murthy and Mangalore University Kannada Professor K Chinnappa Gowda were the guest of honour. Moodbidri BEO Govind Madiwal was present.

Child talent Akshay Hegade, Ayana V Raman and Geethalakshmi K were felicitated with Alva’s Vidyarthi Prathibha Puraskara -2014 on the occasion. Around 1000 students from primary to PU College took part.  A variety of  discussions  and cultural programmes were held on the occasion.
