Mangaluru, Nov 01, 2018: Colourful Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations were held at Nehru Maidan on November 1, Thursday with DK District in-charge Minister U T Khader hoisting the flag and inspecting the guard of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Khader highlighted the invaluable contributions made to Kannada land, literature and culture by its great men of the past as well as the present, He said the state was proud of the fact that eight of its distinguished personalities have secured the most prestigious Jnana Peetha Award so far.
He said love for Kannada language should be continuous and not restricted merely to Rajyotsava celebrations.
Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil, City Police Commissioner T R Suresh, SP Ravikanthe Gowda, MLAs Vedavyas Kamath, Bharat Shetty, Mayor Bhasker Moily, Deputy Mayor Mohammad K , Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura and others were present.
An attractive procession depicting cultural troupes and tableaux was taken out from Ambedkar Circle upto Nehru Maidan prior to the formal ceremony.
District level Rajyotsava Awards were presented to outstanding achievers and organisations on the occasion.
