Kannada Nudi Theru gets rousing reception at BC Road

Bantwal, Oct 14, 2011 : Delivering the inaugural address after launching the Kannada Nudi Theru at BC Road on Oct 13 Thursday, Kannada Development Authority (KDA) Chairman Mukhyamanthri Chandru said that he supports the demands for the inclusion of Tulu in the 8th schedule of the Indian Constitution.

Lauding the people of the twin districts for giving equal importance to all the languages of the districts such as Beary, Konkani, and Kannada, he said that their local language Tulu indeed deserves to be included in the 8th schedule of the Constitution.

Delivering the presidential address MLA Ramanath Rai urged the people to work for the development of Kannada.

The chief guests on the occasion were writer Na D’Souza, artiste Nagaraj Murthi, and Shailaja Shetty, the member of the Tulu Academy. The dignitaries on the dais were Tahsildar Narayan Rao, ZP Member Chandraprakash Shetty, former MLA Padmanabha Kottari, M. S. Mohammed, Steering Committee President Madhav Mave, TP Vice President Dinesh Amtoor, Kannada and Culture Director Mangala Nyak, and Riyaz Hussain.

A grand procession, depicting the rich cultural traditions of the district, formed part of the event.
