Mangaluru, Mar 22, 2016: The 26 feet tall Kalasha at the Mahaveer Circle at Pumpwell in Mangaluru has been shifted to a nearby spot on March 21, Monday in order to facilitate construction of a flyover in the area.
In fact the fly over works had commenced in December last year. Though the Mahaveer Circle was then demolished, the Kalasha was left untouched but has now been shifted.
A crane was used to shift the Kalasha which was inaugurated as early as 2006 by Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade.
A leader of the Jain community has said the MCC has earlier approved the shifting of the Kalasha to a 22 cents land located near Mahaveer Circle.
