Mangalore, March 15: The 16-month-old case of tritium poising at Kaiga Generating Station (KGS) still remains a mystery although the police say that they are in the process of investigating the case.

Raman Gupta, the Uttara Kannada superintendent of police, said that the investigation has still not made any breakthrough, adding that the KGS authorities are refusing to cooperate with the police and that there are no eyewitnesses, which makes the case even more difficult to solve.

Last year, S. K. Jain, the chairman and MD of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India, had labeled the case as “a serious incident” and said that the culprits will be nabbed quickly.

KGS authorities beefed up security following the incident and Jain had warned that they will never be able to get away if they tried it again. Unfortunately, the place where the water cooler was kept was neither guarded nor placed under the surveillance of CCTVs.
