Mangaluru, Aug 1, 2015: Mangaluru Police Commissioner S Murugan has issued an order suspending Kadri Police station Inspector TD Nagaraj who has been accused of assaulting a lawyer on July 31, Friday. It may be recalled here that lawyers had resorted to a flash protest outside the police station on Friday demanding suspension and arrest of Nagaraj who they alleged had assaulted their colleague Uttam Rai.
Meanwhile, Chengappa, President of Mangaluru Bar Association has informed that the inspector has been booked under non-bailable charges. It is learnt, a case was filed against Nagaraj on Friday evening itself after lawyers were persistent in their demand and were not ready to wait until Saturday.
In another development, Chengappa has warned that any lawyer who would take up the case of the suspended inspector would be boycotted by the Bar Association.
Even PP Hegde, Chairman of Karnataka State Bar Council has strongly deplored the incident and demanded stern punishment to the inspector.
