The MD  said that DK DC Adoor B Ibrahim has been directed to identify land to set up industrial estates in the district. Eight industrial estates have been set up in Undivided Dakshina Kannada district. A total of 350 industrial units and 221 industrial sites have been developed and distributed among beneficiaries. Those industrial units have provided job opportunities to over 3,000 people. Since there is demand for more industrial estates, I have held discussion with the deputy commissioner. We need at least 100 - 200 acres of land in the district to set up industrial units in district and taluk levels, MD Mohsin said adding that the corporation aims at providing job opportunity for 6,000 youths through new industrial estates

About  8-10 industrial units may be set up in each acre of land. Once industrial estates are set up, units and sites will be allocated to beneficiaries through single window system, Mohsin said.

If government land is not available in the district, then purchasing private properties and develop industrial estates will be one option. The main objective is to give a boost to small industries and thereby give more emphasis for Make in India initiatives.

On developing a township in Baikampady industrial area, the MD Mohsin said that the corporation will make it possible with the help of Kanara Small Industries Association.
