KCCI plans Alternate Dispute Redressal Centre for trade and industry in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Oct 18, 2019 : Newly elected President of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Isaac Vas has said that the  Chamber was  trying to set up a full-fledged Alternate Dispute Redressal Centre (ADR ) in Mangaluru which would  strive to settle  disputes pertaining to industry and trade.

Addressing his maiden press meet after being elected as KCCI Chairman on October 17, Thursday, he also elaborated on the various initiatives planned during his tenure.

He said the Union Government’s new policy encourages setting up of  Alternate Dispute Redressal Centres. He further added that the KCCI has formed a committee  in order to strive to set up such a centre  with the participation of professionals. It would help in resolving disputes amicably and at a lower cost, he said.

Isaac Vas also stated that there was a proposal for the setting up of a  commercial court in Mangaluru to ease the burden of the regular courts.

He further said the KCCI intends to encourage start-ups, help the cashew industry and also work  towards the development of IT related industries in the region.

KCCI Honorary Secretary Nisar Fakir Mohammad, Vice President Shashidhar Pai  Maroor, Secretary Diwaker Pai Kochikar, Treasurer M Ganesh Kamath were also present.
