KCCI holds one-day seminar on food regulations

Mangalore, Feb 26: The Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), CIFTI, FICCI, and the Quality Council of India (QCI) jointly organized a one-day seminar “Food Regulations and Voluntary Certification” at Hotel Gateway on Feb 26, Friday.

Vice President of KCCI G G Mohandas Prabhu delivered the key-note address and said that, while people take the trouble of purchasing high-quality products in air-conditioned showrooms, they hardly bother about the quality of the food they eat. Speaking about the availability of high-quality products, Mr. Prabhu said that the Ministry of Food Processing has implemented a food processing scheme in different parts of the country. He urged the government to set up Ministry of Food Processing and Technology Park in the district.


Speaking about various government policies, Mr. Prabhu informed that the government has recognized DK as a horticulture district and has approved the establishment of 6 banks, out of which 2 have been already established and 4 are yet to be established.


Shobha Hegde, the advisor of Quality Council of India, delivered the introductory speech. Aravind Singhathiya, the assistant director of FICCI, delivered the concluding speech. The gathering was welcomed by President of KCCI Shrinivas S Kamath.  Latha R Kini and M Ameen were present on the dais.


Seminar on various topics were presented by Aravind Singhathiya, assistant director, FICCI, Shobha Hegde, advisor of Quality Council of India, P C Anil Kumar, Johnson Diversey and Sunil Adsule, General Manager Regulatory Affairs, Coca cola, India.
