KAS officer N. S. Chennappa Gowda takes over as DC of DK

Mangalore, May 16: N. S. Chennappa Gowda took over as the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada on May 16, Monday. Assistant District Commissioner Prabhakar Sharma welcomed the new DC with a bouquet at 1:30 p.m.
 

 

 

 

 

 




Mr. Gowda is already acquainted with Mangalore, having worked here as the MUDA commissioner in 1994.


Previously the DC of Chikamagalur, Mr. Gowda was transferred to Mangalore and posted as the deputy commissioner of DK on May 13. Subhodh Yadav, the DC of Mangalore, was transferred to Bangalore and posted as the commissioner for textile development and director of handlooms and textiles in Bangalore. Mr. Yadav was appointed as the DC of DK in October 2010.


Taking charge, Mr. Gowda said that he will continue the development projects launched by Mr. Yadav and Mr. Ponnuraj. He spoke in appreciation of projects such as paperless office system and computerization, which were launched by Mr. Ponnuraj, who is now the DC of Shimoga. Stating that he will focus on competent administration and transparency, Mr. Gowda said that he will take all the required measures to see that files did not remain pending in office.


Observing that Mangalore has undergone a lot of changes since the time he was the MUDA commissioner, he said that several roads have been concretized and a number of skyscrapers and tall buildings have been constructed all over Mangalore.


Although he is a KAS officer, Mr. Gowda has served as the deputy commissioner of Ram Nagar, Mysore, Chikmagalur, and Uttara Kannada.
