Join hands with Police Dept to promote communal harmony : SP urges public

Bantwal, Dec 05, 2015: There is a need for each and every citizen to join hands with the Police Department to   ensure protection of public interest  as well as promote peace and harmony in the society, said District Superintendent of Police Dr  S.D. Sharanappa.

 

Speaking at a Meet The Press programme organised by the Bantwal Taluk Working Journalists  Union Silver Jubilee Committee and Press Club Bantwal  on December 4,  Friday, he said there is a need to chalk out measures to  see to it that Dakshina Kannada which is projected as a communally sensitive district  becomes a centre of communal harmony in the next three years.

Highlighting the role of the media in building a good society  he said there was a need to guide youngsters on the right direction.

Referring to the Naxal menace, the SP said a total of 28 villages in the district were  identified as Naxal affected.  Constant vigil is being kept in the border areas, he said adding  except for an incidence wherein Naxals had visited a house in Belthangady in the month of June there has  been no  Naxal activity anywhere.

When compared to the population of the district, the Police Department was facing shortage of staff, he said adding  the government has been requested to provide 323 additional staff.

He released media stickers on the occasion. Rishwant,  Puttur ASP, Bhasker Rai, Bantwal in-charge ASP,  Srinivas Nayak Indaje, General Secretary of District Working Journalists Union, Ibrahim Adkasthala,  President of the Silver Jubilee Committee, Maunesh Vishwakarma, President of Bantwal Working Journalists Union and others were present.
