According to locals the land in question located close by Cascia Church was declared a public land for recreational purposes by its owner Annie Mascarenhas years ago and that a builder has now  illegally acquired the land.

The protestors also played cricket on the road as part of the agitation.

Yogish Shetty, President of the Vedike said his organisation would  apprise the Deputy Commissioner of the issue. He also stated that he would file an RTI application to get the records.

A local resident even claimed that he had seen the land documents which mentioned it as a recreation land .

Several locals also said children have been using the ground to play and also to hold cultural programmes. They even allege that the builder has manipulated records to own the land.
