Mangalore, Aug 9, 2014: Media reports state, the High Court of Karnataka has passed an order directing the Mangalore City Corporation to shift a fabrication workshop run by Joseph Vijaya Kumar at Jeppu-Bappal, to industrial area. The order for shifting has been issued as the workshop was functioning in a residential area.
Jeppu-Bappal resident B Krishnappa Shetty had filed a writ petition in the High Court requesting to order for shifting the workshop from residential area as workshops and garages should not be operated in residential areas as per the law. Pronouncing the judgement, the judge has stated that business can not be carried out on causing disturbance to the neighbourers.
The Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act does not allow the granting of license for carrying out business in the residential area, hence the Court has directed the City corporation to take suitable action against the workshop owner within six months from the date of the order (July 4, 2014).
