Mangaluru, Aug 24,2016 : Sri Krishna Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna is being celebrated across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on August 24, Wednesday with gaiety and religious fervour. Temples dedicated to Lord Krishna are organising a host of religious rituals and ceremonies to mark the occasion.
The Sri Krishna Mutt of Udupi is celebrating Sri Krishnashtami on Wednesday and Thursday while Sri Krishna Leelotsava, popularly known as Vittla Pindi will be celebrated on Friday. Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Pejawar Mutt will be observing a fast on both the days. Special Poojas will be offered to Lord Krishna and devotees are making a beeline to the Mutt and offer prayers to the Lord.
On Friday the Sri Krishna Leelotsava procession will commence at 3.30 pm. The Huli Vesha contest is an added attraction during the Vittla Pindi celebrations. Meanwhile, Sri Krishna Vesha contests for kids are being held in Mangaluru, Udupi and other places to mark Janmashtami.
