Janata Curfew: Standstill in Kasargod

Kasaragod, March 23, 2020:  The nationwide Janata curfew to contain coronavirus was successfully observed in Kasargod on Sunday.

 

 

 

Private and KSRTC buses remained off the roads. All the shops and business establishments remained closed.

When a few vehicle owners entered Kasargod town, police prevented them continuing their journey. The owners were forced to return to their houses but those attending emergency works were exempted from the curfew.

The Janata curfew at Badiadka, Mulleriya, Adoor, Perla was by and large peaceful. The bus services from Kasargod to interior villages was suspended on Saturday itself. The government had declared a weeklong holiday for government offices in the district from Monday onwards.

Though permission was given for shops and business establishments to remain open from 11 am to 5 pm, many voluntarily decided to express solidarity with the Prime Minister’s Janata curfew.
