He further stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has failed in his responsibility to bring an end to the water disputes of two states. Karnataka is almost heading towards constitutional crisis and PM has bamboozled people. PM has lost an opportunity to make his position strong by not trying to   intervene in Cauvery water dispute, said Poojary.

Even the BJP  has let gone an opportunity to come to power in the next elections when it decided to boycott all party meeting chaired by Siddaramaiah to discuss the future course of action on the issue of sharing Cauvery river water with Tamil Nadu, he said.

"This is not the first instance that a water dispute has cropped up. When Lal Bahaddur Shastri, Indira Gandhi and Vajapayee had dealt water disputes with ease in the past, why can’t Narendra Modi do the same?," Poojary questioned.

Regarding  Yettinahole project, Poojary said that Green Tribunal has taken a right step by issuing  stern instructions that trees should not be axed in Yettinahole project area. It is better to plant 10 saplings in the area where trees were axed and withdraw Yettinahole project., he said.

When asked about Dinesh Gundu Rao’s statement,  Poojary said that Rao need to apologize for his comments as he does not have  any right to sack him from the party. Such an issue is left to Sonia Gandhi, he added.

Congress leaders Kallige Tharnath Shetty, Vijay Kumar Shetty and others were present.
