Jagotik Konknni Songhotton’s Global conclave on August 24

Mangalore, Aug 01, 2014:   Addrssing mediapersons in Mangalore on July 30,  Jagotik Konknni Songhotton,  Secretary General  Eric Ozario said that  the Songhotton, will host a Global Conclave for Konkani Language Planning at Kalaangann on August 24. 

The objective of the conclave is to churn out the past, present and future aspects of the progress of Konkani Language in global, national, regional and local levels.

Goa MLA Vishnu Singh will inaugurate the conclave, Goan Assembly former speaker Tomazinho Cardozo will preside, Aligarh Muslim University Professor of Sociolinguistics Dr S Imtiaz Hasnain will present the concept paper, Columnist Vasanth Shetty, Goa University Associate Professor Dr Andre Rafael Fernandez will speak on the topics ’Importance of language planning in the context of globalisation; and ‘Need for language planning for Konkani,’ respectively.

AMUCT President Dr Norbert Lobo will moderate the discussions. Secretary General Eric Ozario will present the plan of action.

The Konkani Manyata Divas will be celebrated on the occasion and Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy President Roy Castelino will preside over the function.  Around 200 delegates from around the world are expected to take part, Secretary  Eric said and added that interested may take part and are welcome.
