It is raining patents at NMAMIT, Nitte: Dr Niranjan N Chiplunkar

Mangaluru, March 18, 2020:    As many as 10 patents of NMAM Institute of Technology were published in the official journal of Indian Patent Office (IPO), said NMAMIT principal Dr Niranjan N Chiplunkar.

Dr Niranjan said that one of the inventions on development of super-sensitive and stable gold nanoparticles was awarded a patent (inventors are Dr Vidya S M, Dr Pradeepa and Vaman Rao C). The nanoparticles developed are sensitive to lower concentration contaminants in water.

A patent was awarded to an automatic footwear stand. This stand prevents individuals from handling footwear of others and the exchange of footwear in places of gathering (inventor is Dr Niranjan N Chiplunkar).

Another patent published is for apparatus for fabricating differently shaped tool electrodes for micro-electrical discharge machining (inventors are Dr Muralidhar, T R Venugopal, Veeresh R K, Prasad Prabhu, Dr Ratnamala Rao). The novel system simplifies the process of fabrication.

One more patent is for a system to determine end effector position and orientation error of a robotic arm (inventors are Dr Muralidhar and Rathnamala Rao). Another patent published is for an apparatus for active vibration isolation using flexurally amplified piezoelectric (inventors are Dr Muralidhar, Divijesh P P, and Dr Rathnamala Rao).

A seed decorticator for multiple biodiesel seeds also won a patent (inventors are Dr Shashikanth Karinka). The device is useful for reliable and effective kernel extraction of multiple biodiesel seeds. Inventors Dr Vaman Rao, Dr Bharath B R, Dr Rajesh K S and Dr K Ishwar Bhat had won a patent for developing an anti-venom solution. The anti-venom is useful as an antidote against snake bites and inhibits toxins caused by three-finger toxins.

A novel stove using vegetable seed oil as fuel also won a patent. The inventor of the novel stove was Dr Sudesh Bekal. Another patent is for anti-intrusion device for computer network (inventors are Dr R Anand and Dr B H Karthik Pai). The device detects and prevents malicious activities performed in user devices from computer networks.

One more patent is related to vital sign monitoring system (inventor is Dr Anand). This invention relates to the field of collecting human vital sign data and transferring it to user interface through wireless communication media. In addition, another 21 patents are pending publication in the Indian Patent Office, he said.

NMAMIT in collaboration with Nitte University is involved in the development of many medical devices.
