Infant Jesus Shrine Mangaluru annual feast to be on January 14 and 15

Mangaluru, Jan 3, 2016: The Infant Jesus Shrine at  Carmel Hill, Bikarnakatte in Mangaluru city is once again preparing for  the annual feast of Infant Jesus. On January 5 - the nine-day novena starts in preparation of the feast that will be celebrated on January 15 with a solemn mass at 6pm. There will be masses throughout the day too. Archbishop of Bhopal Most Rev Leo Cornelio will preside over the Eucharistic mass with Rev Fr Charles Serrao, provincial OCD and other priests.

Rev Fr Elias D’Souza, director of the Shrine said that the votive offering procession (Horekanike) will be held on January 4 at 4.30pm from Cordel Church ground to Infant Jesus Shrine followed by flag hoisting. The novena masses starting January 5 will be in Konkani (6am, 7.30am, 9am; 10.30am, 1pm, and 6pm); prayer service (11.45am in Kannada); Malayalam (4pm); English (5pm) and Kannada (7.15pm). Anna santharpane (mid day meal) will be at noon on the days of the Novena. At the Shrine Thursday is a special day of the week all throught the year.

The shrine presently used,  was constructed and inaugurated by then Bishop of Mangalore Rev Fr Basil D’Souza on May 11, 1996.   This shrine is now famous and devotees throng all through the year.
