Indian Air Force officer hailing from Mangaluru passes away

Captain Shyama Krishna UdupaMangaluru Dec 24, 2017: Group Captain Shyama Krishna Udupa, a native of Mangaluru presently serving in a high position in Air Force Station Trivandrum, passed away in his apartment during a brief stay in Bengaluru on Dec 22, Friday following a cardiac arrest. He was 56.

Born on October 31, 1961, to Srinivasa Udupa and Padma S Udupa in Mangaluru, he completed his B.Sc. from Canara College in 1982 and joined the Indian Air Force as a commissioned officer in 1984.

Being the son of an illustrious musician of Mangaluru, he had excelled and mastered the art of playing violin in Carnatic Music Style, under the guidance of his Guru Madhuru Padmanabha Saralaya as well as his father Late Srinivasa Udupa.

He was to retire from service on October 31, 2018. He is survived by his wife Indira Udupa, two daughters Shruthi and Shivani, mother Padma S Udupa and younger brother Advocate Anantha Krishna Udupa.

His mortal remains are expected to arrive at Mangaluru airport at 9 am on Sunday. The last rites will be held at Boloor cremation grounds.
