Independence Day celebrated with fervour amid downpour

Mangaluru, Aug 15, 2019: The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated at the Nehru Maidan here on August 15, Thursday amid heavy downpour.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil hoisted the national tricolour and received  the guard of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner assured the flood affected people of the district that the  district administration was with them. He also  called upon everyone to lend a helping hand in the rehabilitation of the flood hit people.

An attractive parade  was held on the occasion.

City Police Commissioner  P S Harsha, Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath, MLC Ivan D’Souza, ZP Chief Meenakshi Shanthigodu, former minister U T Khader, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and others were present.
