Inauguration of women’s badminton, today at manipal

Manipal, Dec 03, 2019:  South Zone Inter University Badminton Tournament 2019-20 for women will be inaugurated at Marena, indoor sports complex, today Dec 3, Tuesday at 9.30 am.

 

Trupti Murgunde, gold medalist in badminton in South Asian Games, will inaugurate the tournament. Manipal Academy of Higher Education Pro Chancellor Dr H S Ballal will preside.

The tournament got underway on Monday with a number of first round matches, about 30, having gone through.

Jain University, who had emerged winners last year, are hoping to retain the title once again.

They have in their team international stars Ashwini Bhat and Apeksha Nayak and Shikha Gautham, national doubles champion, who are expected to steer the side through.

Ramya C V, who has played in the world junior championships in Russia, will be playing for Bangalore University, Reze Farahat is an international player for MG Kottayam and the other international players who will be seen in action are Shresti and Saheti Bandi for Hyderabad.
