In DK intermittent rain continues, Udupi gets incessant rain

Mangaluru, Aug 14, 2019: Intermittent rain continues to lash different parts of Dakshina Kannada (DK) even today August 14, wednesday.  In the last 24 hours, DK has received an average of 60.7 mm rainfall.

Belthangady received highest of 140.7 mm rainfall followed by Puttur - 103.5 mm, Sullia— 96.3 mm, Bantwal— 74.7 mm and Mangaluru—52.4 mm.

 

The water-level in River Nethravathi stood at 6.2 metres against danger level of 8.5 metres in Bantwal. It was 27.1 metres against danger level of 29.5 metres at Uppinangady.

Water-level in Kumaradhara stood at 19 metres in Uppinangady against danger level of 28.5 metres.

DK district has received an average of 2349.7 mm rainfall since January. It was 3450.7 mm during the corresponding period last year.

Bantwal taluk received 2481.6 mm rainfall ( 3139.4 last year), Belthangady — 2612.1 mm (4221.1 mm), Mangaluru—2149.9 mm ( 2992.3mm), Puttur— 2175.4 mm ( 3488.6mm) and Sullia— 2329.6 mm ( 3412.1 mm) so far.

Landslide  :  A landslide behind a house has damaged the house partially, at Parthippady Pudemajalu in Vittal. Flooding caused inconvenience to the residents near Kemmayi Vishnumurthy Daivasthana Dwara, at Puttur. Later, the silt was removed for traffic.

Incessant rain in Udupi :  Udupi district witnessed incessant rain since Monday  night.  It continues without a break.

Kundapur received heavy rainfall throughout the day august 13, Tuesday. Around 18 houses were damaged and six incidents of crop loss were reported. A tree crashed on the house of Vishwanath Pai in Handadi, Brahmavara yesterday. Gusty winds and rain in the region resulted in the uprooting of the tree.

A person who was inside the house was injured on the head. She was admitted to a community health centre in Brahmavara.

Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat and Brahmavara Tahsildar Kiran Gorayya visited the spot.

The house in Yedthare village in Byndoor was damaged as there was heavy rain in Byndoor. The district had received 77.50 mm rain in the past 24 hours.
