In DK 5 roads to be upgraded with four-laning

Mangaluru, Oct 07, 2017: In an initiative that is said to be a part of Union road transport minister Nitin Gadkari’s ambitious Bharath Mala project, the National Highway Authority of India and the public works department will upgrade five roads in the district to four-lanes, Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said on Oct 6, Friday speaking to officials of the NHAI at his office at the DK DC’s office.

MP Kateel said the survey pertaining to the Mulki to BC Road and Melkar to Thokkottu four-lane work will beging on October 9. The tender work pertaining to the Kalladka-Vittal Chervathooru and Gundya-Subrahmanya stretches has completed and the work will start soon.

The road from Bantwal to Moodbidri via Siddakatte will also be included in the project.

Delay of Mahaveer flyover irks MP : The MP slammed the officials of Navyug Construction for the delay in the flyover work at Mahaveer (Pumpwell) Circle and Thokkottu.

MP Kateel said the land acquisition process has been initiated for the four-lane work from BC Road to Gundya. About 15km road will be completed by May 2018, he added.

The MP admitted that there are a few issues with regard to land acquisition in the 17km area with the forest department and they will be resolved soon.

He also ordered the officials to take up the repair of bad stretches on highways as soon as possible.

The newly built railway under-bridge at Padil will be inaugurated on October 16, after which the highway currently being in use here, will be closed for a month.
